Job Description
Overview

NHS Grampian is seeking an enthusiastic Consultant in Acute Medicine to join our dynamic team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a forward thinking department that is actively redesigning services to deliver high quality, evidence based care.

You will play a key role in the Acute Medical Initial Assessment Area (AMIA), Rapid Access Ambulatory Care (RAAC) and the Medical Short Stay Unit (SSMU). Opportunities to contribute to innovative services such as Hospital at Home and Flow Navigation may also be available. The post is for 10 Programme Activities per week. The on call commitment is approximately 1 in 8.

Professional Registration Requirements
  • Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. The licence must be in place prior to starting in post.
  • Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from the date of interview.
  • CESR or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post once registration is awarded.
  • Doctors with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by the GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.

Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR or Portfolio Pathway Specialist Registration can be made to the GMC.
