Job Summary

Working hours: 8:00 - 16:30 Monday to Friday

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (p/a dependant on experience)

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Civil Manager to oversee and manage the Civils side of our projects from inception to completion. The role involves looking after Civils and poling works in Cheltenham and the wider Gloucester area to support a seamless transition to cabling operations. Key responsibilities include securing permits, scheduling works efficiently, and ensuring effective communication between field teams and the back office. The position requires close collaboration with local Highway Authorities (HA), maintaining high safety and compliance standards on the network, and acting as the primary contact for all excavation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise directly with HA and build relationships
  • Liaise directly with suppliers including weekly meetings
  • Manage civils workload with suppliers
  • Ensure all works are completed on-time safely and within permit and quality conditions
  • To ensure civils are complete within target delivery dates
  • Carry out a minimum of 2 weekly safety checks
  • Manage field supervisors ensuring there role is met
  • Attend meeting in person/remote to discuss work requirements and project targets
  • Carry out pre-site checks of works
  • Complete site passes for all completed works ensuring standard is met by suppliers
  • Ensure all health and safety is met onsite and any near misses/ incidents are reported in the correct manner

Experience and skills

  • Civils experience on Openreach network (Essential)
  • Telecoms Experience (Essential)
  • Knowledge of Fibre build requirements (Desirable)
  • Experience dealing with local authorities (Essential)
  • Understanding of permit requirements (Desirable)
  • Proficiency in Excel and Outlook
  • Organised
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships to facilitate collaborations and build relationships
  • Critical Thinker
  • Excellent problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Able to lead a team
