Job Description

Our client, a Mersyside council is seeking a Children's Assistant Team Manager to join their Safeguarding Team.

Responsibilities of this role:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision and support to Social Workers and Senior Practitioners, ensuring safe and effective case management
  • Oversee safeguarding activity, including Child in Need, Child Protection, and Section 47 enquiries, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions
  • Support the Team Manager with case allocation, workload management, and meeting statutory timescales and performance targets
  • Review and authorise assessments, plans, and key decisions, ensuring high-quality practice in line with legislation and guidance
  • Contribute to risk management by supporting staff to assess and respond to safeguarding concerns effectively
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, attending and contributing to multi-agency meetings and safeguarding processes
  • Support quality assurance through audits, supervision, and continuous improvement of practice standards
  • Deputise for the Team Manager as required, helping to lead the team and promote a positive, high-performing culture

Requirements of this role:

  • Must be a Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
  • Must have minimum of 3 years post qualifying social work experience
