Childcare Solicitor

Service Care Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a well established Local Authority in Blackpool for an experienced Childcare Solicitor to join their legal team. The role is a 3 month rolling contract and can be performed in a hybrid working arrangement.

Location: Blackpool / Hybrid Working

Umbrella rate: £60.00 - £70.00 per hour; PAYE rate (inclusive of holiday pay): £52.00 - £60.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of childcare and safeguarding matters from instruction through to completion.
• Handle care proceedings, emergency protection orders, supervision orders, adoption matters, and special guardianship cases.
• Provide legal advice to social workers, senior management, and council committees on childcare and related legal issues.
• Draft and review legal documentation including applications, witness statements, pleadings, and court bundles.

About you

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a current practising certificate.
• Significant experience handling childcare/public law cases, ideally within a Local Authority setting.
• Strong advocacy skills or experience instructing counsel effectively.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and case management abilities.
• Ability to manage a busy caseload while working to strict deadlines.
