Job Description
Role Summary

Early Years Apprentice at Cedar Park Day Nursery, Twyford. The apprenticeship is full time for 52 weeks, with varied shifts Monday Friday between 07 30, starting between 18 August 2026 and 18 September 2026.

Contract and Salary

37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Initial hourly rate £8.00, rising to £10.41 after six months and to £12.74 after 12 months for those aged 21 or over.

Responsibilities
  • Care for babies and children under five, ensuring a safe, valued and happy environment.
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities linked to the early years curriculum.
  • Observe, assess and record children's progress.
  • Promote well being and meet individual needs in line with nursery policies.
  • Manage time effectively, balancing off job study with written coursework.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, parents and management.
Qualifications and Learning
  • Progress through a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner or Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship, with an online assessment to determine the most suitable level.
  • Achieve English and/or Maths Functional Skills qualifications if not already held.
  • Complete a paediatric first aid qualification (valid for three years).
  • Attend group training sessions at the academy in Newport Pagnell (MK16 8NJ) once every 6-8 weeks.
Eligibility
  • Right to work in the UK and a National Insurance number.
  • Valid photographic ID (passport or driving licence).
  • Computer for online assessment and coursework.
  • Resident in the UK for at least the previous three years.
  • Commutable distance from the nursery and ability to travel to training sessions; travel costs will be covered.
  • 16+ years of age (subject to apprenticeship rules).
