Child Care Legal Officer

Location: Rochdale

Pay: £30-35 per hour

Contract: Locum / Interim Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Child Care Legal Officer to support the legal services team on public law childcare matters. The successful candidate will assist with care proceedings, provide legal support to Children's Services, and manage a busy caseload in a fast paced local authority environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing public law childcare cases
• Preparing legal documents and court bundles
• Supporting solicitors and social workers on care proceedings
• Drafting applications, statements, and orders
• Liaising with counsel, courts, and external agencies
• Ensuring compliance with court deadlines and procedures

Requirements

• Previous experience within local authority childcare law
• Knowledge of public law proceedings and the Children Act
• Ability to manage cases independently
• Strong drafting and organisational skills
• Experience preparing court documentation and bundles

Desirable

• Local government legal experience
• Solicitor, CILEX, or experienced childcare legal officer/paralegal background
