Child Bereavement Specialist (within the Meerkats Team) - Full Time role.
Responsibilities- Assess the psychosocial and emotional needs of children and families affected by life limiting illness and bereavement.
- Provide specialist pre- and post-bereavement support through one-to-one sessions with children, guidance to parents and family members, and group support for children.
- Liaise closely with hospice clinical teams, schools and other external professionals to ensure timely and appropriate support for children.
- Contribute to safeguarding processes, deliver training and guidance to education settings where appropriate, and support the continued development of the service.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service evaluation through routine data collection and reflective practice.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development as a core requirement.
- Travel to Rowans Hospice in Waterlooville on an ongoing basis to shadow and work alongside the established Rowans Meerkat Team. Attendance is guided by service need and developmental priorities, typically 1-2 days per week, subject to review.
The role involves working within the partnership between St Michael's Hospice and Rowans Hospice to deliver the Meerkat Service, with a focus on embedding a proven model of specialist pre- and post-bereavement support for children and young people across North Hampshire.
