Join Chyngton School as our Child & Family Support Practitioner and make a real difference to a welcoming coastal school that values inclusion, kindness and readiness to learn.

About Chyngton School
  • A two-form-entry primary academy in Seaford, East Sussex, serving our diverse community with care and high expectations.
  • We are proud of our inclusive reputation: we support a higher-than-average proportion of pupils with SEND and disadvantaged backgrounds and are trusted by families across the area.
  • Since joining the Seaford Learning Trust, pupil outcomes and attendance have improved and we benefit from strong local partnerships - including excellent transition links with Seaford Head School.
  • Our school values - Be safe, Be kind, Be ready for learning - guide daily life and underpin our commitment to every pupil's development.
  • We are ambitious for the future: plans include a specialist facility opening on site in September 2026 as well as the development of specialist teaching spaces for Music and Art.
About the role

As Child & Family Support Practitioner you will:

  • Champion pupils' social, emotional and mental wellbeing through therapeutic, trauma informed practice.
  • Identify needs early and plan, deliver and evaluate targeted interventions such as ELSA, anxiety support and social skills groups.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families to support regulation, resilience and engagement in learning.
  • Work closely with the Inclusion Leader, SEND team, school staff and external agencies to ensure timely support and referrals.
  • Support behaviour management across the school using restorative approaches and contribute to improving consistency in practice.
  • Maintain accurate records, follow safeguarding processes and support pupils at break and lunch times as required.

This is a hands on role where you will directly influence pupils' day to day wellbeing and help shape how the school supports its most vulnerable learners.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is warm, empathetic and resilient with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with pupils and families.
  • Has practical experience delivering targeted therapeutic interventions and a sound understanding of trauma informed approaches.
  • Can work collaboratively with school staff, parents and external professionals and communicate sensitively in difficult situations.
  • Is organised, reflective and able to monitor pupil progress and adapt support to meet changing needs.
  • Is committed to inclusion and improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND.

We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds and experiences - what matters most is your commitment to pupils' wellbeing and your ability to have a positive impact in our school community.

What we offer
  • The opportunity to make a significant difference in a school known for its inclusive practice.
  • Professional development and support as part of the Seaford Learning Trust, including access to cross school initiatives and expert colleagues.
  • A collaborative, caring staff team and a leadership committed to strengthening systems for inclusion and wellbeing.

Chyngton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Successful applicants will be required to undertake relevant pre employment checks. We welcome applications from candidates who will contribute to the diversity of our school community.
