Chief Procurement Officer
Interim contract Immediate start
£550.71 per day
Inside IR35 (via umbrella)
Hybrid / Remote working

Step into a genuinely influential leadership opportunity as Chief Procurement Officer, reporting at the most senior level and shaping how a complex public sector organisation commissions, contracts and delivers at scale. You will lead a strategic procurement function responsible for over £500m of spend, driving value, innovation and strong governance across goods, services and works. This is a role where your commercial judgement, leadership presence and ability to influence at pace will be fully utilised from day one.

As Chief Procurement Officer, you will sit at the heart of decision making, advising senior leaders and elected members while transforming how procurement partners with the wider organisation. Your role as Chief Procurement Officer:
  • Strategic leadership of procurement and commissioning activity aligned to organisational priorities
  • Commercial assurance and expert advice at executive, board and governance forums
  • Leadership and development of a high performing, customer focused procurement service
  • Oversight of major programmes including construction frameworks and dynamic marketplaces
  • Value for money and governance, strengthening controls while enabling innovation and insourcing
Your previous experience as a Chief Procurement Officer:
  • MCIPS qualified or equivalent senior level experience
  • Proven leadership of a large public sector procurement function with significant spend
  • Deep knowledge of public sector procurement legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing senior leaders and elected members with confidence
  • Track record of transformation, embedding business partnering and modern procurement practices
