We are currently hiring a Chief I Cardiac Physiologist for a hospital in Limerick , Ireland.

Job Title: Chief I Cardiac Physiologist

Location: Limerick, Ireland

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours: 35 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide strategic and clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of an effective, efficient, high-quality, and patient-centred Echocardiography and Cath Lab service.

Ensure professional standards are maintained in line with the requirements set out by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS).

Act as an advanced clinical advisor to Cardiac Physiologist colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical, technical, and professional developments, promoting awareness and leading the implementation of best practices and service improvements.

Take responsibility for the quality of service delivery, including both technical performance and customer service standards, while liaising regularly with the Chief II Cardiac Physiologist to ensure smooth operation of the service.

Monitor patient scheduling and waiting lists to ensure optimal utilisation of departmental facilities and resources.

Develop and support training programmes for qualified staff, trainees, and students, including supervision, assessment, and ensuring training supports new service developments.

Contribute to service planning, including monitoring progress, reporting outcomes, and addressing operational issues where necessary.

Support the Chief II Cardiac Physiologist in implementing initiatives aimed at continuous service development and improvement.

Assist in financial planning and budget management, ensuring appropriate budgetary control procedures are followed.

Demonstrate strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to lead by example and support the professional development of the team.

Requirements

Hold a B.Sc. in Clinical Measurement Science, Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement, or an equivalent qualification.

Possess a Level 8 relevant scientific qualification recognised by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Physiology (IICMP).

Have accreditation in Echocardiography, such as British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) or European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), or an equivalent certification.

Hold Cardiac Pacing accreditation, for example from International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE), European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), or British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS).

An MSc, MBA, or management qualification would be considered advantageous.

Have a minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience working as a Cardiac Physiologist within a cardiology department, including at least 3 years at a senior level.

Experience in leadership and service management, such as deputising at senior manager level, managing change projects, or overseeing significant budgets, is desirable.
