About the Chemistry Teacher Vacancy

Teach Now is seeking a skilled Chemistry Teacher for a secondary school in Hertfordshire with a strong commitment to academic achievement and practical Science. The appointed Chemistry Teacher will teach across KS3 and KS4 and may contribute to KS5 Chemistry, subject to experience. The school is looking for a teacher who combines secure subject knowledge with clear explanations, effective practical demonstrations and high expectations. This role would suit an experienced Chemistry Teacher or a strong ECT seeking a supportive department.

Main Duties
  • Planning and delivering high-quality Chemistry lessons
  • Teaching general Science at KS3 and Chemistry at KS4
  • Preparing students for GCSE assessments
  • Delivering safe and engaging practical work
  • Monitoring progress and providing actionable feedback
  • Supporting intervention and examination preparation
  • Working closely with laboratory technicians
  • Contributing to departmental planning and curriculum development
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Degree-level knowledge of Chemistry or a closely related subject
  • Recent experience teaching secondary Science
  • Secure understanding of GCSE Chemistry
  • Strong behaviour-management and organisational skills
  • Confidence delivering practical investigations safely
  • Commitment to professional development and safeguarding
  • KS5 Chemistry experience would be beneficial.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification.
