Manpower UK is seeking an experienced Chef De Partie for an established Restaurant in Wallingford. This permanent, full-time position involves running a designated kitchen section, ensuring dishes meet exacting standards. You will manage preparation, maintain consistency, and support junior team members. The role requires flexibility to work five days out of seven, including weekends and evenings. A driving licence is necessary due to the remote location. The salary is negotiable, up to £32,000 per annum, plus tips. Job OverviewThe Chef de Partie is responsible for running a specific section of the kitchen, ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes in line with company standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining consistency, supporting junior kitchen staff, and contributing to the overall success of the kitchen operation.
Key Responsibilities- Take ownership of a designated section of the kitchen (e.g., grill, sauce, pastry), ensuring smooth service and consistent food quality.
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Maintain high levels of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety within your section.
- Supervise and support Commis Chefs and Kitchen Assistants, providing guidance and on-the-job training.
- Assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef in menu preparation, development, and daily kitchen operations.
- Monitor portion control and minimise food waste to support cost management.
- Ensure all food is stored, handled, and prepared in compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Support stock control, including ordering, rotation, and inventory checks.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods, maintaining attention to detail under pressure.
- Step up to support other sections or senior chefs when required.
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or strong Commis Chef ready to step up.
- Solid knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Ability to manage a section independently during service.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Passion for food, quality, and continuous improvement.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent).
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above).
