An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Critical Care Nurse to develop and utilise existing clinical, leadership and management skills within a Charge Nurse post within Critical Care, Institute of Neurological Sciences, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Our 12 bedded Critical Care provides Critical care as part of the Regional Service to the West of Scotland to Neurosurgical, OMFS and interventional radiology patients.
You must be a registered nurse with strong leadership skills and experience in the field of Critical Care nursing. You will ensure safe and effective clinical practice and enhance the patient's experience of care. The post holder will support the Senior Charge Nurse by supporting and managing the Critical Care nursing team within the Unit ensuring that patients' needs are assessed, care planned, implemented and evaluated, and that there is consultation and involvement of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will provide clinical leadership, guidance and support to the nursing team in supervising, training and education in conjunction with our dedicated Clinical Educator.
The post holder will exercise advanced patient care knowledge and skills to direct and provide strong leadership in the provision of a high quality patient experience, ensuring safe patient centred care. Under direction from the Senior Charge Nurse, exercise effective management of the nursing team, optimising the use of human resources, absence management, and rostering to reflect activity requirements. It is essential that the successful candidate has a minimum of 3 years' expert experience within a Critical Care environment, and demonstrates successful leadership skills.
Our dedicated Clinical Nurse Educator for Critical Care supports the nursing team development. We support Charge Nurse development in the provision of a Regional Band 6 Charge Nurse Programme. For this post you will work 12-hour shifts to cover the 24/7 service.
You must be able to demonstrate a commitment to patient-centred care, continuing professional development, an understanding of our service, and the specific needs of our patients (or a commitment to learn and develop these skills).
