Job Description

In our Aerospace business segment, as an EASA/LBA Part 21J approved Design Organization (DOA), we support a wide range of manufacturers, maintenance organizations, and aircraft operators in the certification of modifications on aircraft.


We are seeking skilled and experienced Certification Engineer to join our team.


A Certification engineer in our DOA is focused on cabin interiors and is responsible for ensuring that changes to aircraft interiors comply with applicable regulations and airworthiness standards. They work on various aspects of cabin modifications, including LOPA (Layout of Passenger Accommodation), emergency equipment, galley installations, and more.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Developing and managing certification packages:
  • Reviewing and approving design changes; Ensuring that modifications meet airworthiness requirements and safety standards.
  • Representing the DOA to regulatory authorities; Communicating certification strategies and defending design choices.
  • Working with engineers, designers, and manufacturers to ensure project success.
  • Participating in testing and inspections; Ensuring that changes are functional and safe.



Specific Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of aircraft cabin systems: this includes knowledge of LOPA, emergency equipment, fire safety, and other relevant systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards: this includes s EASA Part 21J (Design Organisation Approval), CS-25 (for large airplanes), and CS-29 (for small airplanes).
  • Proficiency in certification processes : this includes understanding the steps involved in obtaining STCs (Supplemental Type Certificates) and minor modifications.
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance and operations : Understanding how changes impact aircraft operation and maintenance.
  • Technical skills in CAD software and other engineering tools: these tools are used for design and analysis.
  • Airworthiness and Service Bulletins


Qualifications for the Certification Engineer position:


  • You are holding a formal qualification such as Bachelor, MSc in Mechanical or

Aeronautical Engineering;

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the aviation industry;
  • You are familiar with the standards, certification and construction regulations applied in aviation (e.g. EASA Part 21, RTCA DO160, DO254 or similar);
  • You have practical knowledge in the design, construction and integration of mechanical, electrical and/or electronic systems;
  • Experience working with modern CAD tools (e.g. Catia V5, SolidWorks, etc );
  • Fluency in English;
  • Experience of Surveillance Audits by an EASA DOA Team Leader, CVE experience and Cabin interior modifications experience is a plus;
