Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is investing in its Clinical Coding Department and is looking to recruit an experienced Clinical Coder to join our well established team.
To apply you must have at least 2 years' experience in coding using ICD 10 & OPCS classifications and an excellent knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
The Clinical Coding Department has its own Working from Home Local Agreement that gives the candidate the opportunity to work remotely. This is available upon request dependent on certain Trust and Department criteria.
Main duties of the jobThe Clinical Coding Team is responsible for the extraction and translation of inpatient information using the ICD 10 and OPCS 4 Coding Classifications. This information is essential for the effective management of the Trust and is crucial to the National Tariff Payment System that underpins Trust income. Coded data is also important for clinical audit, governance and research.
As part of the role you will interact with clinicians and operational staff, manage your own workload and maintain accurate clinical coding quality.

Person Specification Qualifications- GCSE 'C' grade or equivalent in English and Maths
- Completion of the Clinical Coding Standards course
- NHS experience
- Experience and knowledge of Electronic Patient Record Systems (EPR)
- Ability to translate information from a variety of sources into ICD 10 diagnoses codes and OPCS 4 procedure codes
- Good interpersonal/team skills
- Ability to relate appropriately to various professional groups within the Trust, including clinicians, medical, management and admin staff
- Ability to write reports
