Central IT Infrastructure Manager

Overview

Reporting to the IT Transformation Manager, the Central IT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the management, stability, security, and performance of the organisation's central IT infrastructure, including Data Centres, Networks, and Security (Firewalls).
This role oversees operational delivery across managed service providers and ensures that infrastructure services are secure, compliant, resilient, and aligned with business strategy. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting ongoing transformation initiatives and contributing to the strategic development of IT Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with managed service providers to configure, maintain, and optimise hardware and software components within the data centre environment, including Servers, storage platforms, and operating systems.
  • Oversee core Microsoft infrastructure components such as Active Directory and related services, ensuring security, availability, performance, and timely issue resolution.
  • Direct and govern managed service providers in delivering routine maintenance, patching, upgrades, and infrastructure enhancements in line with Tirlán's security policies and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with recognised security frameworks and industry regulations, implementing and maintaining robust disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) capabilities.
  • Maintain licence compliance across all central infrastructure technologies.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to support new initiatives, projects, and digital transformation activities.
  • Participate in infrastructure-related incident management, working closely with Service Management, managed service partners, and application teams to ensure effective resolution.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Central IT Infrastructure strategy and roadmap.
Key Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 8-10 years' experience in Microsoft IT Infrastructure or similar enterprise environments.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience working with managed service providers in the management of data centres, networks, and IT security infrastructure.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft infrastructure services, including Active Directory.
  • Technical knowledge of server hardware, operating systems, storage technologies, and virtualisation platforms (eg, VMware).
  • Knowledge of data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
  • Networking experience is advantageous.
  • Experience working with cloud services is desirable.

Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of security standards and best practices, including ISO 27001 and NIST.
  • Familiarity with IT governance, controls, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience ensuring licence compliance within enterprise infrastructure environments.
