Job Purpose

To provide high quality CT and general radiographic imaging services within the Bon Secours Clinic Cavan and the diagnostic imaging department of Bon Secours Hospital Glasnevin, supporting patient care across multiple modalities including MRI, Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories, Interventional Radiology, Ultrasound, DEXA and general radiography.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform all radiographic imaging examinations in the clinic and in the hospital, prioritising CT but also covering general radiography, DEXA, theatre and interventional/fluoroscopy radiology, MRI, ultrasound, and cardiac catheterisation laboratory examinations as required.
  • Maintain the highest standards of patient care, safety and clinical imaging, acting as the professional responsibility for the quality of all work.
  • Manage and optimise radiographic service delivery, including participation in shift patterns, rotas and on call duties.
  • Conduct intravenous cannulation and maintain accurate and compliant documentation, including data protection, logbooks, quality assurance records and staff training records.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects, quality assurance programmes, clinical audit and departmental KPI monitoring.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, infection control, dress code and general cleanliness of the department.
  • Implement and maintain JCI AOP radiology standards and hospital JCI accreditation standards, including International Patient Safety Goals (IPSGs).
  • Apply local and national radiation protection rules and legislation, ensuring justification, optimisation (ALARA) and dose constraints are met.
  • Lead educational activities: orientation programmes, clinical tutoring of staff and students, assessment of new employees and acting as Student Liaison Radiographer when required.
  • Operate as a patient advocate in radiation protection and other patient focused matters.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, consultants, secretaries, GPs and students, to ensure effective patient management and professional communication.
Education & Professional Development
  • Hold BSc (Hons) in Radiography or Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent, along with CORU registration.
  • Post graduate qualification in CT is desirable.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development, including attendance at lectures, seminars and refresher courses.
  • Maintain knowledge of departmental policies, protocols and guidelines.
Essential Qualifications
  • BSc (Hons) in Radiography or Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent; CORU registration essential.
  • Minimum 3 years post graduate experience in radiography.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Post graduate qualification in CT.
Essential Experience
  • Minimum 3 years post graduate experience in radiographic imaging.
Desirable Experience
  • Minimum months post graduate CT experience, with cardiac and MRI experience desirable.
Essential Skills
  • Pro activity, flexibility, adaptability and excellent communication.
  • High quality care and empathy; ability to cannulate.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
