Type: Permanent Part time. Hours: 10.5 per week. Rate: £12.71 per hour. Shift pattern: Variable hours over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Location: Russells Hall Hospital, Pensnett Road, Dudley, West Midlands, England, DY12HQ.

Role Overview

This role supports the delivery of a safe, high quality patient catering service within a hospital environment. You will assist with meal preparation and service, work closely with ward teams, and ensure patient needs are met with care, dignity, and accuracy.

Responsibilities
  • Support patient meal services at ward level, serving meals in correct portions and following dietary, allergen, and Trust procedures.
  • Use patient meal ordering tablet to record and manage orders accurately.
  • Work in cold conditions within the RDU preparation kitchen and assist with meal preparation, plating and distribution.
  • Clean patient catering areas and equipment daily in line with Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Infection Control standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, ward staff, managers and colleagues to ensure a compassionate service.
Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for a caring, patient focused individual who can work both independently and as part of a team. Desired experience in patient or healthcare catering (training provided). Comfortable using tablets or digital systems, can work in cold environments, and has good numeracy, literacy, and communication skills. Reliability, organisation, adaptability, and good time management are essential.
