About your new role

Our national Large Loss team provides expert legal services for high-value and complex insurance claims. We handle claims reserved at over £150,000, including severe injuries such as brain, spinal, amputation injuries, chronic pain/FND, and fatality claims, representing over £800 million in client reserves. The claims involve Motor, Employers' Liability, Public Liability, and Product Liability. Vigilance against fraud is a key aspect of our work.

We are recruiting a Large Loss Solicitor with 2+ years PQE to join our team.

The successful candidate will assist partners with catastrophic injury claims, delegate tasks to junior lawyers, and manage a case load with a significant degree of autonomy. There will also be opportunities to handle cases up to £500,000 independently.

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Assist partners and manage own caseload of high-value personal injury cases
  • Conduct initial investigations and report to clients/internal strategies
  • Liaise with solicitors, insurers, police, HSE, and witnesses to gather evidence
  • Instruct experts as needed
  • Manage case diaries and action lists
  • Attend court hearings, conferences, and JSMs as directed
  • Draft correspondence, reports, reserve sheets, and action plans
  • Supervise and develop junior team members
  • Complete MI procedures and ensure data protection compliance
  • Adhere to CPR and rehabilitation protocols
  • Stay updated on legal developments in defendant personal injury work
  • Meet financial and KPI targets
  • Ensure deadlines and quality standards are met
  • Follow firm policies and work in line with company values

About You
  • Previous experience and genuine interest in the area of work
  • Approximately 2+ years PQE as a solicitor
  • Experience managing defendant personal injury caseloads (Motor preferred, EL/PL relevant)
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Team player with initiative
  • Knowledge of CPR procedures and technical legal ability
