About your new role

Our Casualty team provides a full, expert service in defending public liability (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims across the private and public sector. Weightmans' team is second to none in providing defendant litigation services in these and other specialist Casualty areas. We operate on a national basis with dedicated commercial insurance and public sector teams, and as part of our wider specialism we have a dedicated Casualty Fraud team. We receive direct instructions from both insureds and insurers.

We are currently recruiting for a Solicitor with 1 3 years PQE to work independently on their own caseload and closely alongside senior case handlers.

We look for someone with an eye for detail who is comfortable managing the high quantity of documents associated with each case. This is an excellent opportunity to build strong client relationships and make your mark. Responsibilities
  • Running a case load of litigated claims, dealing with both liability and quantum.
  • Managing disclosure documents.
  • Assisting senior fee earners with general case management, legal research, drafting witness statements, client reports and preparation for court hearings.
  • Attending client meetings and court hearings.
  • Assisting with the instruction of counsel and experts.
  • Responding promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries from clients and other parties, with and without supervision.
  • Achieving set financial and chargeable targets.
  • Supporting the team's business development activities.
  • This list is not exhaustive; you will be expected to perform other duties and have other responsibilities that fall within the wider remit of the role.
Qualifications
  • Current experience of handling EL/PL casualty claims is essential.
  • A proactive and forward thinking mindset.
