Job Description

A co-educational private boarding and day school in Warminster, Wiltshire for pupils aged three to eighteen. The school consists of a Pre-Prep, prep and senior school, catering for just under 1000 students with a core offer of Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and a strong hospitality focus. As this is a boarding school, it operates 7 days a week, supporting holidays and long term sickness; other locations within the Warminster area are also available for support.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS (TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES)
  • Under the direction of the head chef, prepare and produce food as directed using modern methods, equipment, and fresh ingredients.
  • Ensure that all food is cooked and served to the highest quality.
  • Ensure that all food served is at a safe and appropriate temperature using probes and by recording this information.
  • Undergo training in both formal courses and on the job training to develop cooking and organisational skills.
  • Operate cleaning and dishwashing equipment when needed/requested.
  • Properly clean and store equipment, service, preparation and storage areas.
  • Complete all necessary cleaning/hygiene duties as directed by the team leader.
  • Serve customers, clients, visitors and guests in line with company and client service standards and expectations as required.
  • Empty, remove and store rubbish as required or when needed.
  • Complete basic temperature monitoring of cooked food, refrigerators and freezers and record accurately on a daily basis.
  • Complete the location cleaning schedule on a daily, weekly or monthly basis as determined by the schedule and directed by the team leader, and any other duties requested by the location manager or Senior Thomas Franks employees.
PERSON SPECIFICATION (SKILLS, COMPETENCIES & ABILITIES) Key Personal Skills and Attributes
  • Team working abilities, listening skills, the ability to work on one's own initiative, impeccable personal presentation and hygiene, and respectful behaviour towards others; ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • The ability to be adaptable and flexible as necessary.
  • Reliable, honest and able to demonstrate an open, attentive approach to customer service.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take some responsibility for basic duties.
  • Ability to manage some moderately heavy lifting, carrying, and pushing.
  • Enthusiastic, passionate, committed, confident and self motivated.
  • Ability to demonstrate reasonable/good understanding and use of verbal English.
  • Ability to demonstrate reasonable/good standard of numeracy, written English and reading skills.
  • Similar experience of customer and/or food service or preparation environments preferred.
