About usUCL Careers provides careers education to current students, graduates and research staff of UCL, as well as recruitment solutions for employers.
UCL's Life and Medical Sciences faculties (Brain Sciences, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Population Health Sciences) had a combined total of over 5,000 undergraduate students and over 6,000 taught post-graduate students in 2025. Subjects range from undergraduate degrees in psychology, pharmacy and biochemistry to a highly diverse range of specialist postgraduate degrees in areas such as human genetics, drug development, public health and global health. About the roleAs a Careers Consultant for Life and Medical Sciences, you'll be part of a team of six developing and delivering careers education programmes to our students across the four Life and Medical Sciences faculties. You'll also conduct one-to-one careers guidance appointments.
You'll use your passion for mentoring / coaching others and for supporting personal development to provide first rate support to students. You'll also collaborate extensively with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders, both in the delivery of day-to-day careers services provision and on a range of central projects.

About youTo do this job you'll need enough work experience at a graduate level to provide direct experience of career management and development to our students. You'll also need experience working in / knowledge of the career areas which are likely of interest to our life and medical sciences students (for example academic research, life science industry or healthcare.) If you're a recruitment or HR professional with a degree or PhD in a relevant subject, are currently working in a role which includes significant interaction with relevant professionals, and would like to transition to a Careers environment, then we'd also like to hear from you.
Previous work experience within higher education, and knowledge of the issues facing graduates entering the world of work, would be a distinct advantage. You should also have significant experience working with a range of stakeholders so that you're well equipped to work closely with students, academic staff, support staff and employers.
