Cancer Services Administrator

We are looking to appoint an Administrator to work within the Cancer Services team. Candidates must be experienced administrators with excellent communication and people skills, ideally with a good understanding of NHS healthcare systems and processes and experience with minute taking.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our team to carry out a varied role by supporting the Cancer Services Team, specifically to support minute taking at departmental meetings, support the Cancer Multidisciplinary Team Coordinators with data and tracking, provide general administrative support to the Enhanced Supportive Care and Non-specific symptom service and some support to the clinical nurse specialists and support workers. This position will require development of knowledge in a number of areas such as the diagnosis and treatment pathways of cancer patients, cancer data requirements and the management of national waiting time standards.

This role is open to all applicants. However, in line with Cornwall First recruitment principles, initial shortlisting will prioritise applicants from Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and the Integrated Care Board for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Main duties of the jobCancer Services provides support to Cancer MDT teams within the organisation, tracking and monitoring patient's treatment pathways to help deliver national waiting time standards. The role of the MDT Coordinator team is to provide administrative support to the Cancer Multidisciplinary Teams meetings as well as recording, tracking and collecting data on all patients with suspected or confirmed malignancy and all associated treatments. The Cancer Services Administrator would work alongside the MDTCs to achieve this in a timely way.
The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills, must be reliable, well organised and able to work as part of a team or independently. It is essential that the successful candidate is keen to learn new skills and systems whilst already being efficient using excel and basics data collection tools/databases.
This is a 30 hour a week contract worked over 4-5 days. Home/remote working is negotiable after training and depending on needs of the service. This is a 2 year Fixed Term Contract.

- Fast and accurate typing and keyboard skills.
- Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly excel.
- ECDL or evidence of NVQ 3 Administration
- Ability to prioritise own workload and work unsupervised.
- Knowledge of cancer diagnosis and treatment pathways
- Ability to participate in and contribute to improving departmental work processes and procedures
- Knowledge of Trust IT systems (NHS Mail, Maxims, PAS, Cancer Register)
- Experience using PTLs or tracking lists.
