Main duties of the jobWe are pleased to offer this opportunity to lead our recently commissioned team in Bury which is co-located within Children's Services. We are looking for a dynamic and clinically experienced 8b clinical psychologist to lead this initiative and to work closely with the Head of Service for Cared for Children in developing this offer. In particular, the post-holder will provide highly specialist advice and consultation to managers, social workers and other professionals around the needs of children in care; will work closely with commissioners and the local authority to advise on placements and/or support packages for children presenting with complex needs, and will provide advice and oversight to inform effective decision-making around any funding requests for external therapeutic provision for this cohort. The successful post-holder will provide specialist consultation to the network around the child/ young person, including foster carers, parents and family and friends carers; will develop and deliver training for foster carers and/or professionals; will liaise closely with CAMHS to ensure timely access to services for vulnerable children and families in line with i-thrive; and will take a lead in service development for this team, working alongside the CAMHS operational manager and lead clinical psychologist as well as external stakeholders.

Job responsibilitiesClinical Psychology is well-integrated and highly valued within the multi-disciplinary CAMHS team locally and across the broader Specialist Services Directorate in Pennine Care. There are currently progressive psychological therapies and research work-streams running across the Directorate.The support, development and well-being of our workforce are the foundations on which we continue to develop services to ensure children and young people receive optimal care. We have strong links with local universities and are active in the Clinical Psychology Training Programmes.
Person Specification Education- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS or BPS Statement of Equivalence.
- HCPC registered
- Previous experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist as a highly specialist clinician, with children, young people and their families
- Experience of clinical supervision/consultancy with psychology, CAMHS and multi-agency staff
- Knowledge and experience of the application of clinical governance and risk management policies and procedures for the maintenance and improvement of psychological services
- Knowledge of professional issues in psychology and psychological therapies in the context of working with children and families
- Knowledge of contemporary legislation relating to the delivery of children's services including mental health and psychological services, and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management with children and families
- Ability to be self-reflective, whilst working with service users, in own personal and professional development and in supervision
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to service users, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
