Amazon UK Fresh (AUKF) is an omni channel business that combines the first convenience grocery store to offer Just Walk Out Technology in the UK with online groceries on demand.
We are looking for a talented Vendor Manager/Buyer with a background in buying/vendor management, category management or account development to join our Amazon Fresh business.
The Vendor Manager will:
- Lead a product category by developing and executing a highly productive category strategy and managing category financials through pricing, driving cost improvements, and intelligently managing buying/inventory.
- Negotiate with vendors, influencing them during complex discussions using data and insights to deliver favorable outcomes.
- Coordinate buying activities with the Inventory Planning team to acquire inventory cost effectively and efficiently while ensuring top quality.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Merchandising on in store activities.
- Maintain buying system data integrity and monitor key performance indicators for the business.
- Work with management on buying, market trend assessment, pricing, and selection.
- Operate from either the London (LHR 16) or Manchester (MAN11) office.
- Act as the 'business owner' for your categories, managing a full P&L, including planning, forecasting, and driving growth to exceed revenue and profitability goals.
- Set the goals and strategic direction for your vendors and initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader business goals.
- Generate and implement big ideas to drive business improvement, innovation, and scale within categories.
- Establish and develop strategic relationships with key vendors, leveraging data and programs to deliver favorable outcomes in vendor negotiations and representing Amazon during vendor meetings.
- Understand seasonality, global trends/events, and monitor competitor/industry developments continuously.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams (marketing, merchandising, in stock) to ensure flawless execution and meet tight deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree or apprenticeship in Business or a related field.
- Relevant work experience in Retail/Ecommerce, including buying and negotiation experience in FMCG categories.
- Proven analytical skills and comfort with numbers.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including strong writing and speaking abilities.
- Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results.
- Experience in Ambient Food categories in a Retail/Ecommerce environment.
- Experience owning an AVN/JBP negotiation and delivering strong outcomes.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate sophisticated projects with various technical/project teams.
- Broad commercial awareness developed in a fast moving environment.
- Advanced Excel/SQL skills (plus).
