Business Support Manager Dublin (Hybrid working with 2-3 days in the office per week) Full time 12 month FTCThe Bord Gais Energy Business Support Manager provides structured, high-quality coordination and executive support to the Retail Home Directors within Bord Gáis Energy. This is a junior role designed for an experienced professional and positioned as a development opportunity and pipeline into the Chief of Staff office. The role offers broad exposure to Director level decision making, cross functional leadership, and enterprise priorities, while playing a critical role in coordinating requests and responses across the Irish Retail Home team. The postholder acts as a central point of intake, triage, and coordination for Retail Home matters, ensuring requests are logged, prioritised, and progressed efficiently in line with customer, commercial, and regulatory priorities in Ireland.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the first point of contact for requests, queries, and actions directed to the Retail Consumer Directors from across Bord Gáis Energy and the wider organisation
- Co-ordinate and manage requests relating to the Irish Retail Home business, ensuring clear ownership, timelines, and required outputs
- Log, track, and manage incoming requests, maintaining visibility of progress and priorities
- Triage requests and route them to the appropriate Director or Irish Retail leadership team with clear context and recommended next steps
- Coordinate inputs and responses by working with Retail Home leaders and enabling functions (e.g. Customer (Marketing, CVM, CX & Digital, Data), Commercial, Operations, DTS, Transformation, Finance, Risk, Regulation) across Ireland
- Prepare clear summaries, briefings, and draft responses for Directors, highlighting key issues, options, and customer or commercial impacts
- Monitor deadlines and follow-ups, proactively chasing actions and keeping stakeholders informed of progress
- Ensure responses are accurate, customer-focused, and aligned with Bord Gáis Energy Home priorities, governance, and regulatory requirements
- Support preparation for Retail Home leadership meetings by coordinating papers, actions, and responses for the Irish leadership team
- Identify recurring themes, risks, or pressure points within Irish Retail requests and elevate insights to Directors
- Contribute to improving ways of working for managing Directorate requests, tools, and processes within the Irish Retail Home function
This role is intentionally designed to develop future Chief of Staff capability. The postholder will: Gain exposure to Director level priorities, governance, and decision making within the Irish Retail Home business. Develop strong judgement, stakeholder management, and executive briefing skills. Build a deep understanding of how Irish Retail Home priorities connect to wider enterprise and Group strategy. Be supported to progress, over time, into roles within the Chief of Staff office or broader executive support and business management positions.
Key Skills & Experience- Experience in an executive support, coordination, business support, or operational role within a customer-facing or commercial environment
- Demonstrated ability to work confidently with senior leaders while operating in a junior role
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills. Good judgement and discretion when handling sensitive or customer impacting information
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and turning requests into clear actions
- Highly organised, dependable, and detail oriented
- Proactive, curious, and eager to learn
- Calm under pressure and comfortable operating at pace
- Customer minded with a practical, problem solving approach
This role reports to the Customer & Commercial Director and works closely with the Retail Home leadership team and the Chief of Staff office.
