At Learning Curve Group Schools, we provide exceptional alternative education and vocational learning pathways to support young people at risk of disengagement. Our innovative programmes are changing the landscape for schools-enhancing engagement, boosting attendance, and supporting learners to achieve meaningful outcomes.
We are expanding and are looking for a Business Development Officer (BDO) to drive school engagement across regions. You'll play a key role in building relationships with senior leadership teams, selling our qualification and intervention programmes, and analysing school-level data to shape bespoke offers that improve student outcomes.

We are expanding and are looking for a Business Development Officer (BDO) to drive school engagement across regions. You'll play a key role in building relationships with senior leadership teams, selling our qualification and intervention programmes, and analysing school-level data to shape bespoke offers that improve student outcomes.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Engagement
- Develop and manage partnerships with senior leaders in schools (SLT, Headteachers, SENCOs, Behaviour Leads) to promote our internal and external alternative provision (IAAVT/AAVT) and qualifications.
- Present our curriculum offer and demonstrate its alignment with schools' improvement plans, pupil needs, and statutory requirements.
- Attend SLT meetings, Local Authority panels, and MAT forums to position LCG Schools as the provider of choice for targeted interventions.
- Analyse school-level data (e.g. persistent absenteeism, suspensions, exclusions, SEND trends, pupil premium needs) to develop tailored solutions that address key school priorities.
- Use insights to proactively offer flexible and effective pathways for vulnerable learners, including early intervention and reintegration support.
- Generate new school leads through proactive outreach, open days, networking events, and cold/warm calls.
- Maintain and build a robust pipeline of partner schools, tracking all engagement through CRM and ensuring a high conversion rate from initial contact to signed agreements.
- Organise and manage school information events, centre visits, and stakeholder showcases to drive interest and trust.
- Work alongside Centre Managers and Regional Operations Managers to support learner referrals from schools and track successful onboarding.
- Support the creation of referral packs, pricing discussions, and programme scheduling with schools.
- Liaise with internal QA and Safeguarding teams to ensure schools are supported from referral through to student induction.
- Maintain up-to-date reports on weekly engagement, school onboarding activity, and learner start numbers.
- Meet performance KPIs linked to new school contracts, learner start targets, and regional growth.
- Attend regular meetings to report outcomes and plan strategic growth with the Head of Schools and Business Development team.
- Strong ability to build relationships with senior school leaders and decision-makers.
- A passion for education and belief in the power of alternative provision to transform lives.
- Analytical mindset - able to review school data and spot opportunities for impactful interventions.
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to present with confidence.
- Organised, target-driven, and comfortable managing multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- Background in education sales, education consultancy, or alternative provision.
- Understanding of current school challenges (e.g. behaviour, P.A., SEND, exclusions).
- Experience using CRM systems to manage sales pipelines.
- Be part of a mission-led organisation making a real difference.
- Work flexibly and independently while being supported by a strong team.

- Proven experience in a sales or business development role, ideally within education.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build trusted relationships.
- Understanding of the UK school system, including challenges around persistent absenteeism, behaviour, and SEND.
- Confident in engaging with senior leaders in schools (SLT, Heads, SENCOs).
- Excellent organisational skills - able to manage multiple leads, meetings, and follow-ups.
- Good working knowledge of CRM systems or the ability to learn quickly.
