About the RoleReporting to the Head of Intermediaries, the Business Development Manager will deliver their territory mortgage target both for applications and completions through engagement with mortgage brokers throughout Scotland.
They will deliver compelling presentations to our broker partners, outlining our personal approach to service and flexible underwriting. At all times they will meet activity targets which will be driven predominantly by face-to-face engagement with our broker partners.
The role will be field based, with a requirement to report to the Society's Head Office in Edinburgh for quarterly sales meetings.
- Delivery of mortgage target, submitted
- Delivery of mortgage completion target
- Delivery of weekly activity target
- Garner positive feedback from brokers within territory from survey and engagement
- Organise regular broker events to promote The Society
- Positive engagement with The Society's operations, lending and underwriting teams
- Support agreement of new business cases
- Support updates for mortgage pipeline cases when required
This list is not exhaustive, and the post holder is expected to carry out any other tasks that are required to fulfil the needs of the role. Management may add or subtract from the list of duties in order to meet the need of the business as they see fit and as per the terms and conditions of contract.

Qualifications
- CeMAP or equivalent required
Experience required:
- Mortgage Business Development experience required
- Proven track record in sales and achieving financial targets
- Experience of client relationship management

Has an understanding of competitor services and initiatives and how they may be turned to the Society's advantage.
- Proven analytical skills - Able to use analytical tools and techniques to support our broker partners with case shaping and submission.
- Decision making skills - Ability to source, collate and process all pertinent information to support lending referrals.
- Self/work organisation - Plans, co-ordinates and controls the work and resources under their control. Maintains an awareness of team workloads not directly under their control and demonstrates flexibility in making most effective use of resources to achieve overall business objectives.
- Organisational awareness - Has a very good understanding of the Society's overall aims, structures, policies and culture, together with a good knowledge of the policies, operations, systems and relevant strategies pertaining to specific areas of the business.
- Procedural/Product/Specialist Knowledge - A very good knowledge of the relevant procedures, products and services in own areas of responsibility, namely Intermediated Mortgages, including interpretation and application of best practices, and able to immediately recognise a range of options and match to broker needs.
