Overview of roleGaeltec Utilities is seeking a commercially minded Business Controller (Projects) to support our Energy and Telecommunications operations across Ireland. This role combines business partnering, project financial performance and control, management reporting, ensuring strong financial foundation while supporting operational decision-making and working alongside the Finance Team and the Company's Management Team, reporting directly to the Finance Director.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the annual budgeting process, monthly closings and forecasts. Monitor project financial and economic performance, including budgets, margins, cash flow and work in progress (WIP).
- Partner with Project Managers to improve project profitability.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, KPIs and variance analysis.
- Deliver accurate reporting to the Company Management Team.
- Support investment appraisals and business cases.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and maintain strong internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS, company policies and Irish statutory requirements).
- Identify financial and economic risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting, budgeting and financial processes.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Economics.
- 3-5 years' experience in controlling, FP&A, management accounting or project finance.
- Experience in construction, utilities, infrastructure, engineering or telecoms is advantageous.
- Strong Excel and ERP skills
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or studying towards one is desirable.
