Job Description
Training Strategy & Planning
- Business Readiness Strategy - define the organisational impact of the new digital product and create a clear readiness plan across people, processes, technology and operations.
- Build and maintain a single training plan covering crew, shore-based staff and external clients, sequenced against the programme's release schedule and the vessel rollout waves
- Stakeholder & Change Management - engage business leaders and key stakeholders, build alignment and manage resistance to ensure adoption.
- Training & Adoption - develop and coordinate training, communications and support to ensure users and customer-facing teams are confident and ready for launch. Own the training budget, forecast and supplier spend, working with procurement on any external content or delivery partners.
- Launch & Go-Live Readiness - coordinate readiness assessments, identify and resolve risks/dependencies, and ensure the business is fully prepared to transition into live operation and embed the product.
- Own the creation and delivery of all Marine ERP platform training across three audiences: seafarers and crew across the managed fleet, shore-based office staff, and external clients who use the platform.
- Creation of a training project plan, & co-ordinating a complex matrix structure of stakeholders - including the seafarers, the office based operational departments, HR and the learning and development team.
- Run content production as an industrialised, AI-assisted pipeline rather than a bespoke course-building exercise.
- Work across the wider V.Group organisation - crewing, fleet operations, HR and Learning & Development, commercial - to agree how training is owned, funded and delivered on an ongoing basis long after go-live.
- Lead the training capability as it scales, including line management, development and performance of the team.
- Act as the senior anchor for training craft within the program, setting standards for instructional design, content quality and accessibility.
- Operate comfortably in a hybrid internal / outsourced delivery model.
- Own end-to-end production of Marine ERP platform training content: needs analysis, scripting, build, review, localisation, publication and version control.
- Evaluate, select and operate AI-assisted authoring tooling to generate and maintain content at pace - including video and voiceover, translation and localisation, assessments, and step-by-step walkthroughs - and make a clear recommendation on tooling and cost.
- Establish a "build once, reuse many" content model, so a single source asset serves e-learning, in-app help, quick reference guides and instructor-led material without being rebuilt each time.
- Put rigorous quality assurance around AI-generated content: subject-matter expert review, factual accuracy checked against the live product, brand and tone consistency, and accessibility standards. Human sign-off is non-negotiable before publication.
- Establish a maintenance and re-generation cycle so material stays current as the product changes - treating training content as a living product asset with an owner, not a one-off programme deliverable.
- Work with the product team so that formal training, in-product guidance and the conversational help experience draw on a shared, single source of content truth.
- Track the marginal cost and lead time of producing and updating a unit of content, and drive both down over the life of the programme.
- Design training that works at sea: low-bandwidth and offline-capable, modular, mobile-first, and consumable in short sessions around watchkeeping and operational demands.
- Deliver to a large multinational seafaring population, designing in language, reading level, and cultural accessibility from the outset rather than retrofitting them.
- Work with crewing, fleet and vessel management teams to embed training into existing seafarer touchpoints - pre-joining, induction, handover and rotation cycles - rather than creating a separate obligation.
- Make full use of existing V.Group learning infrastructure and licences (including Mintra and the wider LMS estate) rather than introducing parallel systems (except where necessary), and establish what is already owned before anything new is bought.
- Set out the case and requirements for training on demand within the crewing mobile app, and define what fills the gap if that capability does not make MVP.
- Build train-the-trainer and superuser networks at sea and ashore so delivery scales well beyond a central team.
- Deliver role-based training for shore-based teams across technical, crewing, procurement, HSSEQ, commercial and finance functions.
- Build and deliver the external client training offering for third-party fleet owners and operators using Marine ERP platform, including onboarding for new customers.
- Work with commercial and customer success teams to position training as part of the client proposition, including where it should be a contracted or chargeable service.
- Provide hypercare and post-go-live support: floorwalking, drop-in clinics, refresher content and a fast route for fixing content that users tell us is wrong.
- Work across V.Group - HR and Learning & Development, crewing, fleet operations, commercial, IT and the Marine ERP platform programme - to agree who owns training after go-live, and how it is funded and staffed.
- Define and hand over a durable BAU operating model for training: ownership, cadence, roles, systems, refresh cycle and budget.
- Report progress, coverage, adoption and effectiveness to the program and the Executive using a small set of measures that matter - competence, adoption, and support ticket deflection - rather than completion counts alone.
- Manage external content production partners and contracted training suppliers to quality, cost and time.
- Act as a credible voice with senior stakeholders, comfortable saying where training is not the answer and the product should change instead.
- Previous experience working in Business Readiness. Identifying what needs to change across teams, processes, systems and ways of working before launch.
- Impact & Change Analysis skills, where you have assessed how the new products will affect different internal user groups and translating this into specific actions.
- Training & Communications experience focusing specifically on creating training materials, user guidance and internal communications to ensure employees understand and can use the new product.
- A track record in "Go-Live" coordination, where you are managing readiness activities, tracking actions and dependencies, resolving issues and coordinating with Product/Technology teams through to launch
- Substantial experience leading training for a major enterprise system implementation at multi-site, multi-country scale.
- Proven ownership of the full training lifecycle: needs analysis, design and build.
- Demonstrable experience producing digital learning content at scale, using modern authoring tooling to do so efficiently.
- Practical experience of, or a credible and well-reasoned appetite for, AI-assisted content production - with a clear view of where it helps and where human review is essential.
- Experience designing training for geographically distributed, non-desk-based and multilingual audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management across senior and operational levels, with the confidence to challenge scope.
- Experience working with LMS platforms and reporting meaningfully on learning data.
- Track record of delivering to fixed programme dates in a complex, multi-stakeholder
- Global, multi site, multi national business readiness experience/ training experience.
- Exposure to digital adoption platforms and in-product guidance tooling, and to chatbot or conversational help experiences.
- Experience working within an agile product delivery environment alongside product managers and engineering squads.
- Experience working with LMS platforms and reporting meaningfully on learning data.
- Track record of delivering to fixed programme dates in a complex, multi-stakeholder
