Senior Consultant - Tax Business Analyst

£600pd Inside IR35

We are seeking a skilled Tax Business Analyst with a focus on tax-related processes, particularly FATCA and VAT. This role demands capable of identifying gaps and optimizing processes. The successful consultant will drive improvements in reporting efficiency and contribute to making processes more resilient for future changes. This role is ideal for a consultant with a background in tax-related programs, who is confident working with data, stakeholders, and evolving business requirements.

The Role:

  • Lead the gathering, analysis, and documentation of business and functional requirements.

  • Produce high-quality deliverables such as Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and Functional Specifications.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to map end-to-end processes, identifying data sources and gaps.

  • Interpret regulatory guidance and tax rules to shape technical and operational requirements.

  • Formulate and present business solutions, incorporating data-driven insights and sample calculations when needed.

  • Define and execute testing strategies, including the development of test plans, test cases, and support for UAT.

  • Support project tracking through status reporting, risk and issue management, and stakeholder communication.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience working on regulatory reporting or tax-driven projects-ideally within FATCA, CRS, and VAT transformation.

  • Comfortable handling data from multiple sources and ensuring data quality and governance standards are met.

  • Strong understanding of business analysis practices across the full project life cycle, including requirement gathering, process mapping, testing, and reporting.

  • Knowledge of technology development life cycles and experience working with IT and data teams.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.

  • Experience in top-tier banks, consultancies, or regulatory environments preferred.

  • Direct exposure to FATCA/CRS regulations, or similar global tax compliance initiatives.

  • Experience in projects focused on data transformation, quality assurance, or data lineage.

  • Track record of working both independently and within project teams, including under pressure or to tight deadlines.
