Building Safety Manager

Hours: 37 hours per week. This role is Hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week in-office attendance required.

Salary: Band G, (£42,839 to £48,226)

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Operations and Development Centre, Roway Lane Oldbury, B69 3ES / Sandwell Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury, B69 3DE / Hybrid.

Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Asset Management and Improvement team as a Building Safety Manager. We're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to play a key role in shaping and implementing our council's strategies for Building, Structural & Fire Safety across all High Rise Buildings. As Building Safety Manager, you will manage the Building Safety work streams on blocks assigned to you, plan related projects, prepare project briefs and support the Building Safety programme. You will assist with the implementation of the council's Building Safety strategy ensuring buildings and services meet the needs of the people that live and work in them.

Skills and Experience
  • Able to undertake Building Risk Assessments, Fire Risk Assessments and collate all relevant "Golden Thread" information and the safety case report that comply with the requirements of The Building Safety Act 22.
  • Able to undertake type 1 to type 4 fire risk assessments of HRA owned domestic premises including High Risk Residential Buildings and business premises.
  • Able to be a technical authority on all aspects of building safety to support the wider business.
  • Able to manage a program of audits and inspections ensuring safety case is always current based on review dates.
  • Residential (HRB) Building Management experience.
Qualification Requirements
  • Level 4 diploma in fire risk assessments.
  • Hold or be committed to achieving a CIOB Level 6 diploma in building safety management or similar.
  • Current knowledge of and experience working with the Building Safety Act and all secondary legislation that has followed.
