Job Title: BSS (Business Support Systems) Business Analyst
Location: London (Paddington) - Hybrid 3 x days a week (Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday)
Salary/Rate: £580 per day inside IR35
Start Date: May 2025
Job Type: 7 month initial contract
Company Introduction
My client within the Telecommunications sector is urgently seeking a Senior Business Analyst with Cost Modelling experience, to manage the capacity within the BSS platform for user journey creation using a points and complexity scoring system. The ideal candidate should have excellent business acumen and be commercially minded.
Strong BSS and Netcracker experience is a MUST for this role.
This is an initial 7-month contract, a hybrid position based in Paddington (3 x a week on site on Tues, Wed & Thursdays).
Skills/Experience
1. BSS platform understanding and experience working with Netcracker
2. User journey design and delivery process understanding using agile and waterfall
3. Design and delivery of translation into commercial contracts and cost modelling
4. Commercial literacy is a must-have
Required Skills/Experience
1. Commercially / Business accumen literate to ensure capacity is tightly controlled and managed leveraging value for money
2. Solid understanding of BSS platforms and their role within a connectivity provider market
3. Analytical and strong excel skill
4. Good understanding of business requirements in the context of IT delivery
5. User journey understanding with knowledge in how complexity is calculated
6. Demand management to ensure that business outcomes are delivered in the most efficient and optimal way possible
Job Responsibilities/Objectives
1. Day to day manage the contracted capacity within the BSS platform for user journey creation using a points and complexity scoring system.
2. Validate the consumption user stories against similar and, or equivalent changes so inconsistencies are identified and resolved.
3. Collaborate with the programme delivery teams (BAs, design, delivery, integration) user stories are clear and aligned to programme milestones and objectives
4. Establish and maintain a suitable gating criteria/framework for user story consumption and complexity with the BSS Centre of Excellence (COE) and Programme delivery team.
5. Challenge the business stakeholders to create new journeys which could be simplified and enhanced elsewhere to save on capacity and cost.
6. Challenge the BSS platform provider for how they have determined story points complexity calculation for business requirements, ensuring their approach to calculation is fair and reasonable.
7. Review and hold under continuous management a 'complexity catalogue' which will, in part, govern agreement on complexity measures with the BSS provider.
8. With the BSS COE, and using the complexity estimation tool, undertake regular, top down, quality assurance exercises to validate BSS supplier complexity estimations.
9. Ensure our ways or working adhere to commitments, obligation and principles agreed in the BBS supplier contract.
10. Assess and analyse how the various complexities of the BSS platform modules could result in costs and capacity consumption calculation as provided by the BSS provider.
