Are you a qualified BSL professional looking to help deaf and hearing-impaired learners get the most from their studies?

About the Role

We're supporting an education provider to appoint a British Sign Language Interpreter/Communication Worker. You'll provide communication support in the classroom, making sure deaf and hearing-impaired learners can access their lessons, their course materials and the wider life of their programme.

You'll work alongside teaching and support colleagues, adapting materials where needed and helping learners build confidence and independence as they progress through their qualifications.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing BSL and communication support to learners in classroom and practical sessions.
  • Adapting learning materials and curriculum content so they are accessible.
  • Working closely with teaching and support staff to monitor learner progress.
  • Supporting learners during trips, visits and wider activities.
  • Promoting deaf awareness across the learning environment.
What We're Looking For
  • BSL Level 3 as a minimum, with strong signing skills
  • Experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A flexible, learner-focused approach and the ability to work well as part of a team

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience within an education setting
  • BSL Level 4 or 6, or equivalent
  • A background in learning support, SEND support or specialist support work

If you're ready to help learners access their education and achieve their potential, we'd love to hear from you.

A real person, not an automated email. If we are not the right fit for you we will say so quickly rather than leave you waiting.
