About the roleThe Retail Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in running the Brighton store, meeting sales targets, coaching the team, and creating exceptional customer experiences. This role is an important step on the retail development path and involves deputising for the Store Manager as required.
Key responsibilities Customer Experience- Demonstrate and influence the team to deliver engaging and experiential customer service.
- Ensure the team educates and guides customers in making the right purchase, with full product knowledge.
- Keep the team up to date with seasonal product range and training.
- Build community relationships and support local collaborations.
- Co operate with marketing to deliver successful and engaging store events.
- Share ownership of store performance and communicate targets and plans with the team.
- Analyse RCA reports and implement commercial changes to drive sales.
- Support planning for seasonal and promotional launches.
- Communicate with merchandising to optimise stock opportunities.
- Understand company strategy and how retail goals fit into it.
- Build genuine relationships with customers and local community champions.
- Assist with in store community events and activations.
- Nurture partnerships with surf clubs, swim groups, environmental and creative organisations.
- Champion the store as a community hub that drives quality footfall.
- Work with the manager to staff the store efficiently.
- Train all staff on stock handling and retail operations.
- Support visual merchandising and store presentation standards.
- Assist with health & safety compliance and checklists.
- Represent Finisterre's brand story and values.
- Provide training to help the team reach their full potential.
- Maintain positive relationships with the Store Manager and other departments.
- Assist in recruiting the best talent for the brand.

- Proven experience managing a team within a premium apparel brand.
- Commercial awareness and experience working towards KPIs.
- Visual merchandising skills.
- Competence with Excel, Word, Outlook, and other office software.
- Strong communication with both management and retail staff.
- Alignment with Finisterre's brand values and customers.
- Full time, permanent contract with a competitive salary up to £31,000.
- 25 days holiday per year plus an allowance of up to 8 UK bank holidays.
