A Bodyshop Technician is required to join a well-established commercial bodyshop group in West Thurrock. This full-time, permanent position offers a competitive salary dependent on experience and skill level. The working pattern is Monday to Friday, 7:00 to 17:00 (45 hours per week), with occasional additional hours and Saturday work paid at time and a half. The role involves panel repair and paint work within a professional, family-run business that has served the South East since 1986. Suitable candidates will possess strong skills in vehicle body repair and refinishing, demonstrating reliability and a meticulous approach to delivering high-quality workmanship. About The Role: The company are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, hardworking individuals with experience in Panel repair/paint within the vehicle repair industry to join their expanding team.
Role ResponsibilitiesThe overall purpose with be to prepare repaired vehicles and loose panels for paint and to refinish the repaired vehicle and/or panels to a standard comparable to the original paintwork and in full accordance with professional standards of workmanship and vehicle road worthiness, including:
- To use abrasives to prepare the repaired vehicle and any loose panels for paint
- To ensure that all refinishing is carried out professionally and to the customers satisfaction, using the correct paint and in line with the manufacturer's specification
- To complete the quality control process sheet after each stage and before it moves to the next stage
- To identify and handle hybrid cars correctly
- To ensure that all work is completed on time and without the need of rectification
- Always look to improve working methods, subject to the managers approval
- Always wear and use appropriate PPE and equipment where and when required
- To comply with company repair and safe working methods
- All Health and Safety procedures including COSHH to be used at all times
- All other reasonable tasks to be carried out at the request of a senior manager
Panel Techs will require to:
- To repair and replace damaged vehicle bodyworks and loose panels professionally using the correct equipment and methods
- To ensure that the repairs are to the customers satisfaction and in line with the manufacturer's specification
- To carry out joining techniques including bonding, welding and riveting
- To complete the quality control process sheet after each stage and before it moves to next stage
- To ensure that a technician certified in the discipline countersigns your quality control process sheet before it moves to next stages
- To handle and identify hybrid vehicles correctly
- To ensure all the work is completed on time and without the need of rectification
- Always look to improve working methods, subject to the managers approval
- Always Wear correct PPE and use correct equipment where and when to do so
- To comply with company repair and safe working methods
- All health and safety procedures, including COSHH adhered to at all times
- Any other reasonable tasks, as necessary to be carried out at the request of a senior manager
