Job Description

BI/Systems Analyst

Glasgow Area - Hybrid
£50,000 - £55,000
18-month Fixed-Term Contract

We're working with an established UK organisation looking to appoint a BI/Systems Analyst as it enters an important period of systems and digital transformation.

This is a broad role combining business intelligence, reporting, systems support and project work, making it well suited to someone who enjoys working across both data and business applications rather than operating purely as a BI developer.

The organisation is looking to improve how it uses data and reporting across the business, while also preparing for a major systems transformation programme. You'll add capacity to the existing IT and Applications team while helping strengthen the organisation's broader BI and systems capability.

What you'll be doing

You'll work closely with operational teams, business stakeholders and colleagues across IT.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and improving Power BI dashboards, reports and KPI reporting
  • Gathering requirements from stakeholders and translating them into practical reporting solutions
  • Building and maintaining data models and reporting datasets
  • Using SQL, DAX and Power Query to analyse and transform data
  • Helping improve data quality, governance and reporting consistency
  • Bringing together information from multiple business systems
  • Automating and improving existing reporting processes
  • Providing Front End support across business applications
  • Supporting general systems and applications administration
  • Contributing to a significant cloud-based systems implementation
  • Helping improve how operational data is captured, structured and used
  • Supporting the wider development of the organisation's BI and analytics capability

There will also be opportunities to gain exposure to Microsoft Fabric and modern cloud-based data technologies as the reporting environment develops.

What we're looking for

Ideally, you'll have experience with:

  • Power BI dashboard and report development
  • Strong SQL and data analysis
  • Data modelling and reporting datasets
  • DAX and Power Query
  • Stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering
  • Data quality and governance
  • Supporting business applications or operational systems

Experience with any of the following would be useful, although not essential:

  • Microsoft Fabric
  • Data warehousing or ETL
  • ERP or wider business systems
  • Oracle or other relational databases
  • Systems implementation or transformation projects

You'll suit the role if you're analytical, curious and comfortable working directly with business users. You'll need to be able to work independently, but you'll also be joining an established team with access to wider technical expertise.

Why consider it?

This is an opportunity to join an organisation where there is still plenty of scope to improve and develop the way data and reporting are used.

Rather than inheriting a completely mature BI environment, you'll have the opportunity to put your own stamp on the reporting landscape, while also gaining exposure to a major systems transformation programme.

The role offers:

  • Exposure to a significant business systems transformation
  • The opportunity to improve an evolving BI and reporting environment
  • Interesting operational data across a multi-site organisation
  • Exposure to both systems and data rather than a narrowly defined BI remit
  • Opportunities to work with newer cloud and BI technologies
  • A varied role spanning BI, systems, projects and stakeholder engagement
  • A supportive and collaborative working environment
