Job Description

Salary: £57,200-£75,000 with an average of between £5,750 & £15,750 profit share

Softwire is one of the UK's leading digital technology consultancies, offering services in data, AI, cloud, CX, innovation, design and software engineering. We deliver high-profile, mission critical, and transformational projects for household names across the public and private sectors.

Softwire was founded on one simple idea: be the outstanding place to work for smart, passionate technologists who want to make an impact. Attract the best, create a culture where people thrive, and offer our customers access to capabilities that are truly market leading.

And it seems to be working - We were recently voted number 1 company to work for in the UK at the Best Company awards; we employ outstanding people across all capabilities (typical destinations after Softwire include Google, DeepMind, start-up founder, algorithmic trading, and AI research roles); and we have helped our clients deliver some of the hardest, most interesting tech programmes, across private and public sectors.

A big part of this is our culture and values and we are looking for people who share our core beliefs about what makes a great place to work:

  • That if a job is worth doing, it's worth doing properly
  • That work should be fulfilling but can also be fun
  • That kindness matters and should be extended to employees and clients alike
  • That by being trusting and trustworthy as an organisation and as individuals we can dispense with tedious bureaucracy and rules
About the role

We're looking for a Bid Manager to join our team and grow with us. This is a great opportunity for someone with prior experience in bid management who is ready to take the next step. You'll be managing public sector bids from end to end, while building your confidence and developing your skills along the way.

You'll work closely with senior stakeholders, subject matter experts and delivery teams to manage the bid process. You'll be supported by the Head of Bids and Frameworks, with regular coaching, feedback, and opportunities to shape your own development. We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised, and ready to take ownership, while also being open to learning and improving as they go.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead the coordination and delivery of public sector bids from kick-off to submission
  • Draft and review content, ensuring responses are clear, tailored, and compliant
  • Work with the Head of Bids and Frameworks to build realistic timelines and keep everything on track
  • Engage with SMEs and senior managers to gather content, align messaging, and keep momentum
  • Run internal reviews and provide feedback on content, ensuring high quality submissions
  • Be a champion for structure and process, while also looking for ways to improve how we work
  • Help improve and maintain reusable content, templates, and bid assets
  • Get involved in shaping how we qualify opportunities and make bidding decisions
  • Build up your knowledge of government frameworks and procurement trends
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture where good work is shared and celebrated
What we're looking for
  • At least 3 years' experience working in bids or proposal writing, within the public sector
  • Strong familiarity with CCS, G-cloud or DOS frameworks
  • Someone who is organised, proactive and keeps calm under pressure
  • Comfortable coordinating different contributors and chasing up actions when needed
  • Confident communicator who can work with senior stakeholders and technical experts
  • Willing to learn, take feedback, and keep growing in the role
  • Able to prioritise and manage their own workload
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
  • An eye for detail and high standards when it comes to written content
Nice to have
  • APMP Foundation or Practitioner certification
  • Exposure to managing or maintaining a content library or knowledge base
  • Experience working in a technology consultancy or an agency setting
  • A clear path for development, with regular feedback and support
  • Exposure to strategic, high-value bids and cross-functional teams
  • A say in how we improve and run our bid processes
  • The chance to grow into a more senior role over time
What We Offer
  • Basic salary is based on experience and ranges from £57,200-£75,000
  • You can expect to receive an average profit share of between £5,750 & £15,750 depending on company performance.
  • Pension: Additional 5% of salary.
  • 25 days annual leave (with the option to buy and sell).
  • Time off for company-wide morale events, time off for charitable activities.
  • Free annual eye test, income protection, cycle to work, electric vehicle lease schemes, and payroll charity donations.
  • The opportunity to shape one of the UK's top tech consultancies at a pivotal moment of growth and evolution.

Flexibility

We are a flexible employer who understand that being committed to a job is not the same as sacrificing everything for it: holiday is holiday; if you need flexibility for life stuff that's not a problem; and we don't expect (or want) long hours - we believe in a good work/life balance.
