Job Title: Behaviour Support Worker
Location: Ryecroft School, Walsall, West Midlands WS2 7BH
Salary: £25,000 per annum ( not pro rata )
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
Start: November 2025

As part of our continued growth, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Behaviour Support Worker to join our dedicated team at Ryecroft School, part of Options Autism. This is more than a support role - it's a chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people with autism and complex needs. You'll be helping students overcome barriers, develop skills, and thrive both academically and personally.
About the Role
You will support the Positive Behaviour Lead and wider Inclusion Team to implement effective behaviour strategies and pastoral care. Your work will include monitoring behavioural trends, making positive interventions, and encouraging engagement through reward schemes and celebrations such as ClassDojo points, student leadership opportunities, and reward trips.
You'll collaborate with teachers, therapists, and external agencies to support individualised behaviour plans, and guide staff in implementing strategies from EHCPs and Pupil Passports. Your presence around the school - in classrooms, during break/lunch, and at school events - will help create a safe, consistent, and positive environment.
This role is hands-on, challenging, and highly rewarding, giving you the opportunity to shape outcomes for students and contribute to the school's wider ethos of inclusion, respect, and achievement.
Essential Requirements
- GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/Level 4 or above) or equivalent Level 2 qualifications
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience working with autistic spectrum disorders and/or challenging behaviour
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to mediate, negotiate, problem-solve, and record information accurately
Desirable
- Experience in education or pastoral roles within the SEND sector
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support, trauma-informed practice, or similar approaches
- Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and implementing behaviour plans

About Us
Ryecroft School is an independent day school in Walsall, providing specialist education for autistic children and young people aged 4-18 years.
We focus on meeting the unique learning needs of autistic pupils, including those with additional challenges such as learning disabilities and behaviours that may present as a result of their diagnoses. Our new school, which opened in September 2024, has a capacity for 60 pupils and is designed to support learners with autism and complex needs in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.
Ryecroft School is located in Walsall, a vibrant market town in the West Midlands. The school is well connected, situated just 9 miles north-west of Birmingham, 7 miles east of Wolverhampton, and 9 miles from Lichfield, offering easy access for families across the region.

You'll work 80% of your contractual hours for 100% of your pay, giving you more time to do the things that make you happy. 4DWW is subject to successful completion of probation and is not a contractual benefit
