About the Role

Smile Education is recruiting a resilient and motivated Graduate Behaviour Mentor to support a welcoming and well established secondary school in Greater Manchester. This long term, full time role is ideal for recent graduates who are interested in a future career in education, psychology, youth work, or pastoral support and are looking to gain hands on experience working with young people who require additional behavioural and emotional support.

As a Graduate Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement with learning. This role is an excellent stepping stone into careers in teaching, educational psychology or pastoral leadership.

Role Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural, emotional, or social needs
  • Support students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs to remain engaged in learning
  • Assist pupils in developing positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation skills
  • Support classroom behaviour and de escalation strategies in line with school policies
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, behaviour, and engagement
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to promote trust and consistency
  • Support intervention sessions, inclusion work, and pastoral initiatives
  • Maintain a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment
You'll Need
  • A degree in any subject
  • A genuine interest in behaviour support, pastoral care, or youth work
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Resilience, patience, and a calm, professional approach
  • The ability to support behaviour management and de escalation
  • An enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
