Engage Education is recruiting a Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Haringey from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong behaviour management skills who is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of students.
The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and pastoral support, helping them engage positively with school life and reach their academic and personal goals.
The RoleAs a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural, emotional, and social needs.
- Build positive, professional relationships with students to encourage engagement and improve outcomes.
- Support students in lessons and around the school to help them remain focused and on track.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral leaders, the SEND team, and safeguarding staff to implement behaviour support plans.
- Use positive behaviour management and restorative approaches to de-escalate challenging situations.
- Monitor student behaviour, attendance, and progress, providing regular feedback to staff and parents where appropriate.
- Promote resilience, confidence, and positive attitudes towards learning.
- Experience working with secondary-aged students in schools, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, alternative provision, or similar settings.
- Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain professional and confident when managing challenging behaviour.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- September 2026 start.
