Bank Worker - Security Officer

The Facilities department at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for Security Officers to join our brand new team providing a 24/7 Security Service throughout the hospital.
A background in Security is desirable but not essential - full training will be provided.

Main duties- Provide a security presence throughout all areas of the hospital to deliver a polite, efficient and compassionate service to patients, visitors and staff at all times.
- Provide a first line quick and immediate response to distressed, violent and aggressive persons (including mental health patients), calm individuals using verbal and non verbal communication skills, and where necessary physically restrain and escort persons from site to maintain a safe environment.
- Appropriately operate CCTV in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Trust licence for detection and prevention of crime where required.
- Conduct shift checks to ensure all CCTV equipment is fully operational and report any faults immediately to the Facilities department via email or phone.
- Undertake physical patrols of the hospital site in line with the schedule to provide a security presence and maintain a secure environment including checking closure departments.
- Undertake external patrols to all areas of the Hospital site including car parking areas and outlying buildings to ensure your presence is noticeable.
- GCSE or equivalent in English Language
- Willing to undertake appropriate training courses to obtain relevant qualifications
- Knowledge of working to legislative compliance
- General knowledge of Health & Safety at Work training
- Previous experience of working in Security
- Good communication skills with a professional and sympathetic approach to people
- Strong written and verbal communication with a wide range of people
- Strong mental ability and confidence to make effective decisions under pressure, stress and difficult situations
- Ability to work under pressure, often unsupervised, and prioritise duties
- Good IT skills - MS Office Suite and related FM software systems
- Familiar with or willing to train in CCTV operation, intruder alarm systems and radio communication skills
- Team orientated approach, able to work across organisational boundaries and supportive of colleagues' work
