Main duties of the jobThe main duties of a Clinical Specialist Sonographer include performing a diverse range of sonographic procedures with a high degree of proficiency and autonomy. Support for consultant sonographers and managers are part of this advanced Band 8a role.
Some Cross site rotation through Barnet, Chase Farm, Edgware, Finchley and Hadley Wood hospitals may be required depending on service needs.

Job responsibilitiesAs a Clinical Specialist Sonographer at the Royal Free Hospital, you'll be responsible for performing advanced ultrasound examinations, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and patient care. This role involves interpreting complex sonographic images, contributing to diagnosis and treatment plans, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of advancements in sonography. Leadership duties include supervising and mentoring junior staff, developing protocols and guidelines, and actively participating in multidisciplinary teams. Person Specification Royal Free Values World Class- DCR or BSc diploma/degree or equivalent
- DCR or BSc diploma/degree or equivalent
- PDip or higher in medical ultrasound / DMU equivalent
- Evidence of CPD
- HCPC or relevant professional registration
- Significant experience of working at a band 7 or higher level
- Experience of working with clinical leads in specialist areas to develop services
- Experience of working with a multi-disciplinary tea
- Experience across majority of main areas of US including obstetrics/gynaecology, abdominal, small parts, MSK, breast
- Demonstrates the ability to lead and work as part of a team
- Ability to teach and mentor students
- An understanding of local and national guidance relevant to medical ultrasound
- An understanding of the National and local policies and guidelines in relation to medical ultrasound
