Band 8a Advanced Clinical Practitioner / Trainee ACP

We have a vacancy for a motivated, proactive and adaptable individual from nursing, paramedic or AHP professional background to join our well-established ACP team at Heartlands Hospital. We welcome interest from both qualified ACPs and partially trained practitioners from acute care or other clinically relevant specialities. This post is not suitable for trainees new to the ACP role.
The Acute Medical Unit is a busy and dynamic environment, providing assessment and management areas for patients presenting with a wide range of medical problems. You will be working as part of the medical team providing leadership, expertise, advice and support to the AMU and Same Day Emergency Care Unit, ensuring the provision of high quality, person centred care to acutely ill patients from the first point of contact to their final destination, either admission or discharge.
The department has an excellent track record of supporting both training and development of ACPs and provides robust consultant supervision and a range of educational opportunities. ACPs are expected to participate in teaching, service improvement, audit and have opportunities to develop procedural skills and special interests.
You will be required to work shifts including weekends on a 1:6 rota. The post holder will deliver a 90% clinical component to their role and 10% related to appraisal, clinical audit, teaching, self development and research if fully qualified. (Trainee post is 80% clinical / 20% non clinical).

Essential for any applicant- Current registration with the NMC/HCPC/GPHC
- Independent/Supplementary prescribing (ISP) qualification or the professional ability to undertake this
- Hold MSc in advanced practice or comparable qualification
- Hold ISP qualification
- Provide a portfolio of ongoing development and autonomous practice at an advanced level.
- Be undertaking academic modules towards an advanced practice MSc funded by NHSE
- Currently be part of ACP apprenticeship pathway (discussion with the ACP consultant Lead is required prior to applying to ensure feasibility of transfer if currently employed in a differing trust)
- Professional healthcare
- Registration with a UK regulatory body (NMC / HCPC / GPC) (E)
- Post Graduate Qualification in specific speciality or equivalent (E)
- MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice / minimum of 120 CATs and working towards full MSc (must cover all 4 Pillars of advanced)
- Independent and Supplementary prescribing qualification - where applicable to registration (E)
- Advanced Life Support qualification (E)
- Recognised Teaching & Assessing / Course (E)
- Extensive post registration experience at a senior level (Band 7 or above) in specialty area, including significant and relevant senior clinical and leadership experience
- Evidence / experience of working in an MDT within a health care provider service
- Evidence of ongoing CPD
- Evidence of teaching in a variety of areas
- A sound knowledge of professional priorities and issues relating to NHS care provision
- A knowledgeable clinician with ability to ensure clinical governance is embedded in practice
- Sound understanding of evidence based practice and its application
- Knowledge of the national and local NHS healthcare agenda and its implications
- Willingness to provide support, supervision and mentorship to trainee ACPs within Acute
- Maintenance of portfolio of CPD evidence in line with the HEE Advanced Clinical Practice in Framework
- Previous experience within an Acute admission area
- Previous experience in an acute admission area
- Knowledge of Acute Medicine pathways including Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)
