Job Overview

Band 7 Allied Health Professional eJob Planning & Workforce Professional Lead at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This is a permanent, part time (15 hours per week) position with a salary of £49,387 - £56,515 per annum (pro rata). The role closes 05/07/2026. Only HCPC registered professionals will be considered for the position.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Electronic Job Planning (eJP) for the AHP workforce across the Trust, ensuring high quality service delivery and workforce development.
  • Design, deliver and evaluate programmes of work for the AHP workforce using policy, data and intelligence.
  • Support the transition from analogue to digital, aligning eJP with the 10 year plan and national, regional and local targets, including productivity and efficiency improvements.
  • Help the Trust achieve NHSI eJP Levels of Attainment and reduce unwarranted variation through data analysis and program development.
  • Analyse electronic job plans to inform workforce demand, capacity and alignment with strategy.
  • Collaborate with senior AHP clinicians, service and professional leads across the Trust to ensure eJP uses the NHSI national categories and meets local and national targets.
  • Engage with colleagues across the Trust, ensuring all AHPs and other staff have meaningful eJP plans.
  • Support policy setting and implementation of eJP for wider professional groups.
  • Develop programmes of work to reduce unwarranted variation and inform future workforce planning.
  • Provide expert knowledge of eJP, local and national policies, workforce strategy and evidence.
  • Lead trust wide programmes aligned to workforce planning, including non medical eJP.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes for staff on eJP functions, reporting and data analysis.
  • Manage data gathering, baseline metrics and quality improvement across diverse AHP professions.
  • Lead complex annual reviews of all eJP, ensuring audit, data analysis and programme learning are delivered.
  • Maintain governance, policy, procedures and technical support for eJP and workforce intranet site.
  • Line manage the eJP Systems Lead and delegate appropriate portfolios of work to direct reports.

  3. Carry out appraisals and personal development reviews (PDRs) for direct reports, ensuring annual objectives and plans.

  6. Undertake additional duties agreed with the line manager.
Person Specification Qualifications
  • Allied Health Professions Professional Degree and HCPC registration.
  • MSc degree or equivalent evidence.
  • Project Management Training.
  • Workforce Planning/Modelling training.
  • Human Resource System training (Electronic Staff Record, e Health Roster, e Job Planning).
  • Information Software and Data analysis training (e.g., Excel).
Experience
  • Experience receiving or delivering eJPs within the NHS.
  • Experience with NHS workforce planning demand, capacity utilisation and staffing.
  • Human Resource System training (Electronic Staff Record, e Health Roster, e Job Planning).
  • Experience with digital information systems (Allocate, Healthroster, Excel).
  • Experience leading complex programmes of work trust wide.
  • Strong analytical skills and judgement in complex projects.
  • Experience writing and delivering reports to varied audiences.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of eJP as a clinician or AHP/General Manager.
  • Knowledge of workforce planning principles/toolkits relevant to AHPs.
  • Track record working with diverse groups of staff.
  • Competent in data analysis and use for service development.
  • Strong informal and formal communication skills.
  • Track record of horizon scanning, learning and development of new support routes.

  • Ability to drive new areas of work in an organisation.
  • Sensitivity to clinical staff demands.
