Band 3 Scheduling Officer

To support the work of the screening office team by accurate, efficient and timely execution of essential operational activities that support inviting women for breast screening and the scheduling of clinics and appointments, under the direction of the Scheduling Officer Manager.
To liaise closely with other Administration/Data Officers to ensure integration of functions and facilitate providing cover for periods of short-term absence.
All Screening Office Administration/Data Officers are expected to develop the knowledge and ability to provide cover for key elements of each other's' work. The specific elements to be covered by each Scheduling Officer will be specified by the office manager, who will also arrange appropriate training.
To deliver support services that are in line with the Trust and NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) guidelines and targets.
Within the given area of responsibility to use experience and judgment to provide appropriate advice and guidance, referring to the Office Manager/ Service Manager as necessary.
Contribute and innovate as a member of the Breast Screening Service team.
To lead on investigations into operational processes within the Breast Screening Unit as directed by the Scheduling officer manager.
To act as a member of staff in relation to work based audits and process reviews.
To provide operational support to the Scheduling Officer manager and Service Manager.
Education & Qualifications- 5 GCSE's or equivalent
- EITS or Equivalent
- NVQ2 in Business Administration or Customer Care or equivalent
- Key Skills Level 2 in Literacy or equivalent
- Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values
- Experience of undertaking detailed, intensive work in a busy administrative environment
- Experience of using information technology such as Word and Excel in work-related activities
- Experience of dealing sensitively with client/patient concerns in emotive and distressing circumstances
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to use own skill and judgement to select the most appropriate action from a range of alternative approaches
- Able to sustain meticulous attention to accuracy and detail
- Good level of verbal and written communication
- Good interpersonal and listening skills
- Able to handle difficult and distressing situations effectively
- Able to prioritise own workload to set and meet deadlines
- Able to compose correspondence and reports
- Able to work as part of a team
- Able to present information to others

- Good working knowledge of relevant Microsoft office packages i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook
- Good knowledge of the NHS breast screening programme
- Good knowledge of the National Breast Screening System (NBSS)
- Good understanding of general office working procedures
