Job overviewA fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Outpatient Department of West Hertfordshire NHS Trust, based at Watford General Hospital. We are looking for a full time Outpatient Receptionist to work Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the jobProvide a first class reception service to patients attending Outpatient services, contributing to the efficient and effective running of all designated clinics.
Greet patients in a warm and friendly manner and act as the first physical point of contact between patients and the Outpatient department.
Work closely with nursing and medical staff to ensure that any issues are raised immediately, maintaining a high level of service to patients.
Manage booking of designated follow up appointments via the Request list waiting lists, ensuring efficient booking and raising any issues with medical staff immediately.

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesWith good communication and interpersonal skills, you will have experience of communicating with a wide range of people on all levels, specifically face to face.
You will be able to work on your own initiative, prioritising your workload and paying attention to detail while working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
You will be a good team player with a flexible approach to work, pleasant personality, a positive outlook and the ability to take direction well.
Previous customer service/reception experience is desirable but not essential.
Education and qualifications- Good level of general education
- ECDL Customer Service Training
- Competent in Microsoft Office programs.
- Understanding of information governance issues and how to manage confidential patient information.
- Experience in producing reports.
- Knowledge of Patient Administration Systems, e.g. Cerner Millennium.
- Experience of working in a busy environment.
- Customer Service Experience.
- Experience working in an NHS administrative role.
- Experience of handling confidential information.
- Appointment booking experience.
