PAY RATE: Euros 600 - Euros 650 EURO/Day

Platform Engineer - AI & Agentic Platform (Azure)

Mission Context:

The AI Engineering team is building and evolving Client's internal AI platform ("Sky"), based on Azure AI Foundry and other Azure AI services. The platform supports GenAI and Agentic AI applications and relies on multiple specialist teams (Cloud, DevOps, Integration/APIM, Security, Enterprise Architecture). Currently, there is no dedicated owner of the platform's technical architecture.

The selected consultant will become the technical owner and coordinator of the platform architecture, ensuring alignment between all infrastructure teams while driving the platform roadmap and adoption of new Azure AI capabilities.

This is a highly collaborative, cross-functional role combining:

• Platform Engineering
• Solution Architecture
• DevOps
• Cloud Infrastructure
• Azure AI services
• Stakeholder management
• The role is not focused on large-scale infrastructure operations but rather on integration, experimentation, architecture ownership, and cross-team collaboration.

Function Description:

A typical week would include:

• Working closely with the AI Engineering team to understand platform requirements and developer pain points.
• Exploring and experimenting with new Azure AI Foundry features and services.
• Building PoCs and prototypes to validate technical solutions.
• Collaborating with Cloud, Security, DevOps, Integration (APIM), and Enterprise Architecture teams.
• Working with Microsoft to understand upcoming Azure capabilities and product roadmaps.
• Managing the technical backlog for the platform.
• Defining and documenting platform architecture, integration patterns, network topology and technical decisions.
• Following up on implementation activities delivered by other teams and ensuring end-to-end consistency.
• Supporting CI/CD, automation, developer tooling, and platform improvements when time allows.
• Acting as the technical "glue" between teams and helping remove blockers through influence and technical expertise

Telework:

• Expectation: 50% on site & 50% homeworking

Years of Experience:

Target: 5+ years of relevant experience.

However, the manager is flexible and emphasizes:

• Capability over years of experience.
• Strong curiosity and learning ability over seniority.
• A talented candidate with 3-5 years of broad infrastructure/cloud experience could be successful.
• A very senior candidate is not necessarily preferred if they are less hands-on or less adaptable.

Technical Skills

• Hands-on Azure experience.
• Strong understanding of:
• Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, Routing, Firewalls, Private Endpoints, DNS)
• Entra ID/Azure Active Directory
• Identity & Access Management
• Infrastructure as Code:
• Terraform and/or Bicep
• CI/CD:
• Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions
• Cloud infrastructure background.
• Strong understanding of enterprise environments.
• Ability to perform technical investigations and prototyping independently.
• Good knowledge of DevOps concepts.
• General understanding of API Management (APIM).
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

The manager would particularly appreciate someone who:

• Has worked in consulting or multiple environments.
• Has broad exposure to many technologies rather than deep expertise in only one.
• Is naturally curious and enjoys learning new technologies.
• Can quickly prototype and validate solutions.
• Understands enterprise networking and identity management.
• Is technically strong enough to challenge Security or Cloud teams when necessary.
• Has the political and communication skills required to align different teams and drive consensus.
• Can operate with "soft power" rather than relying on formal authority.

Nice to Have:

• Azure AI Foundry experience.
• Azure OpenAI experience.
• Azure AI Search.
• Azure API Management (policies, networking modes, Back End integrations).
• Architecture documentation and Architecture Decision Records (ADR).
• Experience with:

• AWS or GCP background is acceptable if the candidate can quickly transition to Azure.
• Exposure to enterprise architecture practices.

Language Requirements:

• English: Mandatory
• French and/or Dutch are a plus but not required.

English is sufficient for the role.

Homeworking Policy:

• Based at Client HQ, Belgium (Braine-l'Alleud).
• Flexible hybrid setup.
• Official expectation: approximately 2 days/week onsite.
• No fixed onsite days, though Mondays are often useful for collaboration.
• Presence onsite is important due to the large number of stakeholders involved.

Full Time

Preferred: 5 days/week

Possible: 4 days/week may also be accepted for the right candidate, as the role is not tied to a strict project delivery schedule.
