Azure Platform Engineer - 7 months +- NL

For a leading organisation, we are looking for an experienced Senior Azure DevOps Engineer who will be responsible for designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, managing Azure cloud infrastructure, driving Infrastructure-as-Code standards, and providing technical leadership within an engineering team.

What you will do

• Design, build, and optimise Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
• Manage and enhance Azure Infrastructure (VMs, storage accounts, key vaults, networking, IAM, security, endpoints)
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using YAML, Bicep, Terraform, and PowerShell
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a team of 5-10 engineers
• Collaborate closely with cloud architects, development teams, and business stakeholders
• Review and improve cloud security, monitoring, and deployment practices
• Troubleshoot complex Azure infrastructure and pipeline issues
• Ensure DevOps best practices, documentation, and governance are followed
• Support large-scale cloud transformation and automation initiatives

Knock-out criteria (mandatory)

Candidates must meet all of the following requirements:

• Minimum 8 years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or Azure solution delivery
• Strong experience with Azure DevOps including CI/CD pipeline design and automation
• Deep understanding of Azure Infrastructure: VMs, networking, Key Vault, storage, access management, and security
• Proven experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (YAML, Bicep, Terraform & PowerShell Scripting)
• Ability to lead, mentor, and guide engineering teams
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills
• Willing to work onsite in Amersfoort (approx. 50% onsite)

What we are also looking for

• Experience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, or data engineering platforms
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Proactive, organised, and self-driven working style
• Experience with cloud automation, monitoring, or security engineering
• Quick learner who adapts to new challenges and technologies

Assignment details

• Start: As soon as possible
• Duration: 7 months (initial contract with option to extend)
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Location: Amersfoort (Hybrid - around 50% onsite)
• Contract type: Freelance/Interim
• Rate: Depending on experience
