Farrer Barnes is recruiting for an Audit Manager to join a growing firm of Chartered Accountants based in Sittingbourne.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced audit professional to manage a varied portfolio, develop a team and play an active role in the continued growth of the practice, with a clear pathway towards Responsible Individual (RI) status.
The firm takes a pragmatic approach to work-life balance, with effective resource planning and realistic deadlines. While additional hours may occasionally be required during busy periods, regular late working is not expected.
The Role
As Audit Manager, you will:
- Manage a diverse portfolio of audit clients from planning through to completion.
- Ensure assignments meet professional standards, budgets and deadlines.
- Lead audit planning and completion meetings and act as a key client contact.
- Review audit files, working papers and statutory accounts ahead of RI review.
- Provide practical advice on technical and commercial matters.
- Identify significant audit issues and discuss recommendations with the RI.
- Manage workloads, allocate resources and support staffing requirements.
- Coach and develop team members, providing technical guidance and supporting career progression.
- Work closely with senior leadership on technical matters and the development of the audit function.
About You
You will be ACA or ACCA qualified, or equivalent, with current Audit Manager experience within a UK accountancy practice. You'll have strong knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines.
A commercially minded, client-focused approach and a genuine interest in developing others are essential.
This role will suit an ambitious Audit Manager looking for greater involvement in the development of an audit team, alongside a defined route towards RI status.
